Why did you start blogging in the first place?
I started blogging as a creative outlet! I spend most of my day in front of a computer, fulfilling marketing goals for others. While I enjoy my job and am very grateful to have it, I had this feeling deep down that I wanted to be able to express myself through my own words, photos, and art. Thus the blog was born!
What platform are you using to manage your blog and why did you choose it?
I'm on a homebrew site built on PHP. If you're interested in seeing the code, here's the github repo. Feel free to copy any part of my code if you'd like to use it in your own site!
Have you blogged on other platforms before?
I tried WordPress... even built a custom theme and everything. I just hated how clunky it felt.
How do you write your posts? For example, in a local editing tool, or in a panel/dashboard that’s part of your blog?
I write my posts in a combination of markdown and HTML. Again, check out the github repo if you're interested in seeing how it works.
When do you feel most inspired to write?
On lunch breaks at work.... or 1AM if I happen to be awake :)
Do you publish immediately after writing, or do you let it simmer a bit as a draft?
Depends on the post! Anything where I need to gather a lot of photos, I'll usually write out a draft of the text and then come back in and fill in the pictures later. This one... I'll probably post immediately ;)
What’s your favourite post on your blog?
Definitely my 100 Lolita Questions post. It feels so nostalgic <3
Any future plans for your blog? Maybe a redesign, a move to another platform, or adding a new feature?
Definitely want to add more art, especially to the homepage! I'd like to get less perfectionistic about it and just add a bunch of sketches and drawings, stuck all over the page. Right now it's pretty minimalist, which is nice, but I prefer a bit more clutter on personal sites.
